Crochet Boob Pattern

Updated: Mar 20

I am very proud to be the designer of a Breastfeeding Puppet crochet pattern that has taken the crochet world by storm and sold globally for the past 2 years! I have even had several bulk orders from charity and health organisations who work with new mums to provide them with breastfeeding puppet and boob sets to help demonstrate the skill (because, believe me, it is a skill!!).

Get the add free version of this pattern on Etsy or Ravelry

However, it occurred to me that I don't have a boob/breast/nipple pattern for the set so I've decided to put one free on my blog.

Being honest, there are many ways you can make a boob as it's basically a ball with a nipple shape at the start. The size of the boob is entirely up to you so I will give you some pointers in the pattern of how to adjust the size. The yarn and hook size used will also make a difference to size so, again, I will address these variations in the pattern.

I primarily use US crochet terms when I write patterns but I will also add UK terms for those of you who prefer them! Scroll down for UK terms.

I recommend using either DK (light #3) or aran (worsted #4) yarn and a 4mm hook for DK or a 5mm hook for aran. You will need 2 colours - a small scrap for the nipple and around 15g-20g for the boob colour.

When decreasing, I recommend using the invisible decrease method to avoid little holes appearing.

If you want to make the accompanying breastfeeding puppet, you can find the pattern here

Please pop over to my socials to share your makes from my patterns! You can find me on Facebook and Instagram .

I also have a video tutorial to accompany this pattern plus lots of other helpful tutorials on my YouTube channel - make sure you subscribe so you don't miss out on new videos!

US terms

Using nipple colour, begin with a Magic Circle and ch1

R1: 6sc into the circle

R2: 1sc in each st arnd (6)

R3:1sc in each st arnd (6)

R4: 2sc in each st arnd (12)

R5: (2sc in 1st st, 1sc in next) arnd (18)

R6: (2sc in 1st st, 1sc in next 2 sts) arnd (24)

Change to boob colour (for seamless colour changes, click here)

R7: (2sc in 1st st, 1sc in next 3 sts) arnd (30)

R8: (2sc in 1st st, 1sc in next 4 sts) arnd (36)

R9: (2sc in 1st st, 1sc in next 5 sts) arnd (42)

R10: (2sc in 1st st, 1sc in next 6sts) arnd (48)

The following rounds are all optional, depending on the yarn and hook size you're using and how big you want your boob to be. Keep adding rounds until you are happy with the size.

R11: (2sc in 1st st, 1sc in next 7 sts) arnd (54)

R12: (2sc in 1st st, 1sc in next 8 sts) arnd (60)

R13: (2sc in 1st st, 1sc in next 9 sts) arnd (66)

R14: (2sc in 1st st, 1sc in next 10 sts) arnd (72)

Once you are happy with the size, continue from here.

R15-22: 1sc in each st arnd.

Now it's time to decrease and round off the boob. Depending on which round you went to when increasing, you will need to start decreasing from that number of stitches. Skip to the round that corresponds with your increases and start to decrease from there.

R23: (2sctog, 1sc in next 10 sts) arnd (66)

R24: (2sctog, 1sc in next 9 sts) arnd (60)

R25: (2sctog, 1sc in next 8 sts) arnd (54)

R26: (2sctog, 1sc in next 7 sts) arnd (48)

R27: (2sctog, 1sc in next 6 sts) arnd (42)

R28: (2sctog, 1sc in next 5 sts) arnd (36)

R29: (2sctog, 1sc in next 4 sts) arnd (30)

R30: (2sctog, 1sc in next 3 sts) arnd (24)

R31: (2sctog, 1sc in next 2 sts) arnd (18)

R32: (2sctog, 1sc in next 1 sts) arnd (12)

Stuff the boob using toy stuffing.

R33: (2sctog) arnd (6)

Fasten off leaving a long tail. Use it to close up the hole and secure the ends.

And you're done!
